The Friday Night Boys have been up to a lot over the past few months. I recently got a chance to talk to Andrew Goldstein, at their CD release show about labels, touring, and their new CD “Off the Deep End.”
How does the full-length differ from your older stuff?
I feel like the songs are more relatable to people. More mainstream and kind of universal concepts, more about relationships and there’s some serious topics as well, instead of just like partying. There are party songs, but there are some that are a little more serious.
And you guys have been touring constantly recently. Has it been rough doing everything at once?
Since January, we’ve been non-stop touring, yeah. It’s rough but it’s a lot of fun, because you get to just see a new place and new people every single day. So that’s really invigorating.
That’s awesome. How about the deal with multiple labels? How has that been working?
Well we mainly deal with Fueled By Ramen, the other ones just kind of help out. So they’re there when we need them to be but it’s mainly Fueled By Ramen.
Nice. And what are your plans for the summer?
This summer… I am actually not sure yet. We’re planning to tour. We’re waiting to hear back from someone about some stuff.
How do you guys think you’ve progressed since signing to a label?
I feel like we’re more full time, we’re just more committed. We’ve tightened up a little bit live, we’re touring and playing, and we’re better friends. I feel like we’re more focused now.
“Off the Deep End” drops June 9th, make sure pick up a copy.
