My first impression of Attack Attack!'s new CD “Someday Came Suddenly” was simple: same old screamo-hardcore band trying to get noticed. But then after listening to their CD, I began to hear the major difference between them and everyone else. They have mastered how to balance pulsating techno and hardcore breakdowns. In their song “Stick Stickly,” they show just that. From the beginning screams, to the breakdowns in the middle, finishing off with their unique techno beats, this band really knows their stuff. It's by far one of the best songs on the album. As I listen to the rest of the CD I can stop tapping my fingers and moving my head to the beat. Vocalist Austin Carlile has done an amazing job with his unique sound. Attack Attack! knows just how to keep up with the demands of what people want to hear. This is definitely a CD to keep in the car and rock out to.
The negatives: the songs throughout the album do, however, have the same techno synth-core sound. I do not see this as a major problem though. They seem to know how to tweak their songs just to make it interesting enough not to get bored.
The bad news, Austin is no longer apart of the band. They have found a new vocalist, but no worries! Just leave up to Attack Attack! to make it alright at the end. They are definitely a band to watch out for in 2009. Rise Records, excellent choice!
