The changeover from the Goodnight Anthem to New County was really sudden. How have your fans reacted to the switch?
So far so good! I don't think we've had any negative responses from fans, a few people were just a little confused at first. We want everyone to know that this is a brand new project, not a name change! With that being said, we're so excited because we have a lot of plans for the band in the very near future.
How long has New County been in the works and was it hard to keep it a secret?
New County was in the works for about two months. It seems like it did come together a lot quicker. It was just a really busy couple of months because we were finishing up the CD, getting artwork together, booking tour dates, figuring out a plan for the next few months, etc. It was hard to keep a secret because we were all so excited about it, BUT I think we did a good job of not talking about it.
What was the main reason for the new band?
We had one member change and we were just writing a lot of new music, some songs in a more mature direction. We just wanted to start fresh since we have our new CD "Lives We Lead" coming out August 17th. Also it's just exciting starting a new project, we want people to find out about us and be like "where did this band come from?".
In what ways will New County be different from TGA?
Like I said, some of the songs have a more mature vibe. Lots of the songs are still really fun and positive just like TGA, but New County is going to be the most honest project yet. I want to share my lyrics, my thoughts, my everything with the world, and with New County finally here I'm ready to let it ALL out.
How did you come up with the name New County?
Great question. A lot of the CD was written when we were away in Arizona. This was a foreign county to us, but it gave us the opportunity of a life time. When we wrote some more music recently at home and started changing a bit, we realized that we want something new and a name to represent this sort of re birth. We just put the two things together that really impacted us and came up with New County.
What can fans expect from the new EP “Lives We Lead?”
Fans can expect a great EP, because the songs will make you feel every emotion out there. If you want a ballad, there's a ballad. If you want to just get up and dance, there's a song for that. The lyrics are very honest and will really give the listener something to think about. Fans can expect an exciting new direction and can be assured that our songs are still sending a very positive message. You’ve got several shows lined up for the remainder of the summer, what are your plans for the rest of the year?
Well we have a whole tour booked that's going down south and then back up to NYC. We also have some really cool one off shows and have a lot more shows booked that we have not yet announced. Our plans are to play as much as possible to as many people as we can!Is there anything else you want fans to know?
We want you to know that you all mean everything to us. Hoping that you're as excited for this new project as we are, we want you to know that we have so much planned and we're doing this all for you. Welcome to New County![CA]
