“Sing, But Keep Going,” “Summer EP,” “A Different Light”… What the hell is Sherwood so happy about, and where can I get some? Central Cali’s own Sherwood gives us a reason to smile, even when they’re mad… they’re happier than you.
Through each song you’re spirits lift, perfect for every single day of summer. Day turns to night suddenly with “Home,” the perfect blend of nostalgia, youth, and the nights that make the bad days better. “I’m carrying out my dreams across the sky to another city where the future lies.” It’s a song about every kid with a dream.
Things stay slower with “Alley Cat” with a cute Hellogoodbye-esque beat. You feel bad for them in the best way possible, “run off to where your next big meal could be, and run off because you must be tired of me…”
Somehow Sherwood manages to have a line like “Cause we’ve got the sound and sunshine to keep us warm,” and it’s not the most annoying thing you’ve ever heard. Kudos to them with “Give Up,” a bouncy tough love kind of song.
My personal favorite is after “Give Up.” “Never Ready To Leave” reminds me of a few people I used to know, and I’m sure everyone will connect with the song on some level. It deals with wanting to leave someone or something behind but knowing you never can.
As the album chronologically goes from day to night to day (in my opinion) you’ve stumbled on your new favorite band, but no matter what you’ve turned your mp3 player/CD player/computer off happy :-)
