The Taste of Chaos Tour was started in the winter of 2004 by Kevin Lyman, the creator of Warped Tour. This tour however was designed to bring bands in that were not the typical punk, and emo that Warped usually brings out.
Taste of Chaos, often called the "Winter Warped Tour" considering dates from October to April of the next year. The tour is highly successful for many of the same reasons as Warped Tour: cheap tickets and major bands.
In the fall of 2005 the tour went internationall with The Used, Story of the Year, and Rise Against who played in Australia, Europe and Asia.
Many well known bands have played the Taste of Chaos tour such as: My Chemical Romance, Senses Fail, Saosin, Aiden, Killswitch Engage, Deftones, Thrice, Funeral For A Friend, The Receiving Sirens, Dredg, Thursday and The Confession. Most of the bands have also previously performed at Warped Tour.
Unfortuntely during both 2005 and 2006 many bands or band members have dropped out of the tour such as Frank Iero of My Chemical Romance let due to a family illness, Adam Dutkiewicz of Killswitch Engage let due to an illness in 2005. In 2006 Funeral for a Friend dropped the tour as did Story of the Year. Also early in that tour Thursday singer Geoff Rickly became very ill and could not sing anymore which forced the band to drop off as well.
