MIX TAPE: END OF SUMMER

This issue definitely has a back to school theme but I’m absolutely positive that the topic of school makes a bad CD. People hate school. So instead, I decided to make this mix about the memories of summer. We all love it, so why not keep the summer spirit alive?

Boy’s of Summer by the Ataris
This song wasn’t originally created by the boys of the Ataris, but they did do a beautiful up-to-date rendition. This song touches on anything you did or wish you had done during summer. It’s really just about a good time and good friends.

Back to California by Sugarcult
“How long I’ll stay just to say goodbye.” For the senior classes, summer is basically three months of good times and goodbyes. Goodbyes aren’t entirely sad. Goodbyes to the old mean hellos to the new. Many friends will stay around, but summer truly is your last stab at lifelong memories. Sugarcult hit this one right on the nose.

It Was Summer… by October Fall
Well, if you don’t know why this song was chosen you must be blind, deaf, and dumb. This song just radiates summer. I mean, come on, it says the word at least eight times throughout. So until summer comes back around, just keep taking “babysteps.”

Don’t Stop Believing by Journey
Maybe it’s just me, but for some reason this song just makes me nostalgic about summer. Maybe it’s the relatable lyrics. Maybe it’s the fact that it has been played as the last song at every Hamilton show lately. Maybe Journey just rocks. I don’t know, but I think it deserves a spot on the summer list.

Editor’s (Subtly Post Summer) Choices:
Hellogoodbye’s “Bonnie Taylor Shakedown”
Good Charlotte’s “Seasons”
Yellowcard’s “Ocean Avenue”
Scary Kids Scaring Kids’ “What’s Said Is Done”
Cartel’s “Luckie St.”
Dashboard Confessional’s “So Long Sweet Summer”
